The Young House Bed and Breakfast

We are your inkeepers, Micki and Fred Schumacher, and we are living our dream of owning a bed and breakfast. We come from Florida and both left successful careers with "corporate America" because we were finally ready for a change. We wanted to live in a place with four seasons, especially snow, an abundance of moose and no hurricanes! The Young House circa 1910 Your Hosts...
The North was calling us and so we left sunny Florida to begin our search. What we found was a gem in the rough. We call it The Young House.
On a personal note, we have two grown children, three grandchildren, and five adorable cats (the cats live on the third floor with us). We are avid music and theatre lovers and have collectively performed in over 100 community theatre productions. Fred enjoys photography and computer games while Micki enjoys sewing and quilting. Together we enjoy moose watching and riding our Goldwing.

Old Winterport Commercial House

|
Old Winterport Commercial House antique shop and bed and breakfast located in downtown, historic Winterport, Maine along the Penobscot River.
Conveniently located on Route 1A and 10 miles from downtown Bangor, Maine, our antique shop consists of 4,000 sq. ft. filled with home furnishings of both American and European furniture, clocks, oak beds, armoires, rugs, stained glass and acid etched glass windows and doors, as well as collectibles.
Reservations are taken year round for our bed and breakfast. Wake up in an 1833 stagecoach stop surrounded by beautiful antiques including armoires, marble top dressers, and other furnishings. And while you enjoy your fresh brewed coffee and fresh pastries, reminisce about the people who have stayed here before you such as Alexander Longfellow (brother of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow) and folk singer Dave Mallet.
Never stayed at a b&b before? Not to worry. We have many first time b&b'rs stay with us and we would love to show you why many of them now prefer to stay nowhere else other than a b&b after staying with us.
