Maison des Amis is a Caribbean/Creole residence overlooking lush landscaped gardens, which lead to a charming white gazebo that sits over the legendary Bayou Teche. Built around 1870/1880 and known as the "Boudier" house, the center portion of the structure - a circa 1810 two-room bousillage (adobe mud and moss) is the oldest historic structure in town along with the "City Hotel". The abandoned and boarded up home was bought and restored in the mid 1990s. Upon completion, the state historical and preservation department approved its nomination and placed it on the National Register of Historic Places.
