After a hearty breakfast on the ocean-view veranda or in the sun-lit breakfast room, take a walk on the beach or through the quaint neighborhoods of beach bungalows and impressive oceanfront homes that surround Beach Bed & Breakfast.
Bloody Marsh National Battlefield Site The battle fought at Bloody Marsh on July 7, 1742, when Spanish troops landed on the south end of St. Simons Island, proved to be the turning point in the Spanish conquest of Georgia. The battle was a decisive British victory which forever ended the threat of Spanish invasion into this colony. Open 8:00AM to 4:00PM daily. No entry fee.
Christ Church Frederica Christ Church is a charming Victorian church constructed in the 1880s. Views of the exquisite stained glass windows inside is worth the visit. The interior is intimate, rustic and serene. The church is situated on lush cemetery grounds. Among the few to be buried here is the writer, Eugenia Price, author of many novels about St. Simons Island and the South. Also see the Wesley Oak, a huge gnarled Live Oak on the property. It was beside this ancient tree that the Methodist clergymen, John and Charles Wesley, preached in the early days of the colony of Frederica. A secluded path leads to meditation gardens with unique statuary across the road from the church. Chapel open daily 2:00PM to 5:00PM, except Christmas Day.
