Ouray Hot Springs. This a terrific natural hot spring pool that lives in the shadow of the world famous Glenwood pool. Ouray is set in a valley that makes you think you are in the Swiss Alps. An extra treat is the Box Canyon Falls.
Grand Mesa National Forest is just 7 miles away. Aptly named the ""Evergreen Island in the Sky"" It is a gorgeous and little known paradise. Over 300 lakes.
Escalante Canyon is rich with the history of the early european settlers as well as petroglyphs from even earlier dwellers. Two must see features are Captain Smiths cabin and the Balanced Rock that Ben Lowe where jumped his horse from the cliff.
For fishermen, the Gold Medal section of the Gunnison River beckons. World famous trout fishing.
