We are one block from the FULLERTON El stop - a main station in Chicago serviced by the RED, BROWN and PURPLE lines. Adult fares are $2 each way, anywhere. For more information see the CTA web site.

From O'Hare Airport: The only subway at O'Hare is the BLUE Line Train to the City. Ride for about 40 minutes towards Chicago. Exit downtown at WASHINGTON ST. Transfer (free) downstairs to the RED Line north towards HOWARD. In about ten minutes, exit at FULLERTON AV. You're now at the corner of Fullerton, facing SHEFFIELD. Turn right onto SHEFFIELD ST. Walk one block to the stop sign at Aster ST; turn left. We're the fifth building on your right, #1020. Ring the top bell, Ramer.

From Midway Airport: The only subway at Midway is the ORANGE Line Train to the City. Ride for about 40 minutes towards Chicago. Exit downtown at CLARK/ LAKE ST. Transfer (free) to the RED Line north to HOWARD or the BROWN line north to Kimball. In about six minutes, exit at FULLERTON AV. You're now standing at the corner of Fullerton, facing SHEFFIELD. Turn right onto SHEFFIELD ST. Walk one block to the stop sign, turn left onto ALTGELD ST. Aster House is number 1020, the fifth building on your right, #1020. Ring the top bell, Ramer/Stringham.

The Aster House Apts. is strictly non-smoking, although ashtrays may be provided on the verandah and sundeck. Anyone smoking within the building will be immediately evicted, as this would be a violation of the safety and fire code.

In order to make a reservation, please:
1. Contact us by phone, fax or email to confirm availability and rates.
2. Return the completed reservation form with a 50% non-refundable deposit. We accept personal, business or travelers checks and (international) money orders. (Make checks payable to Frances Ramer.) For Visa, Mastercard or Discover, please phone with your card information. If you prefer to make a bank transfer, please contact us for routing information. All information you provide is held in the strictest confidence.
3. After you inform us of your desire to book a reservation, we hold the unit for five days. If we have not received your deposit nor heard from you by that time, the apartment will be released.
4. Upon receipt of your deposit and reservation form, we will send a confirmation and directions. The balance is due upon arrival.
5. When we make a reciprocal agreement that you will be staying with us, it would inconvenience both parties if either party changed their plans. Therefore, we do not accept cancellations. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances could arise, and should this occur we will work with you to our mutual satisfaction.
Well-behaved children are always welcome. Please bear in mind that the apartments are not child-proofed.

As it is an older building, The Aster House Apts. is not wheelchair accessible, but there are only six steps to each main apartment.

Both units are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, toiletries, hair dryers, ironing board and iron, CD and cassette players, VCRs for which you may borrow from your hosts' collection of 90 videos, and board games and playing cards.

We can send faxes for you, and do black and white or color photocopies. Kinko's 24-hour Copy Center is about seven blocks away. Free high-speed Internet access and Wifi is included with your visit.

Internet Access
We offer free high-speed DSL Internet access via a wireless network (802.11b/g), but you must provide your own wireless network card and be able to configure it. Your card must be able to work with WiFi Protected Access (WPA) security. If you don't have a wireless card, you may purchase one nearby. Guests in Elizabeth's Place may use the inn's Ethernet connection if they provide their own cable. Even though we take reasonable security precautions with our network configuration, you would be using our network at your own risk. We recommend the use of personal firewall software and installing the latest security updates for your operating system, as well as using an up-to-date anti-virus program and turning off file-sharing capabilities.

It's a two-block walk to Lincoln Avenue's shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, music venues, movies (six screens) and live theaters. It's one mile to Lincoln Park and its zoo, Lake Michigan's beaches, the botanical gardens, several museums, and Wrigley Field.

Chicago's largest health club is four blocks away, as are several others, and The Aster House Apts. can offer its guests a free pass for a day's workout. Indoor basketball courts are two blocks; an outdoor court, two playgrounds and a small community pool are a five-block walk. Jonquil Park is just behind us with its gardens, softball field, tennis courts, and playground. A nine-hole public golf course and driving range and the beach with its bike and roller-blade rentals are all about one mile.
