If angling is your idea of relaxation, then you’ll find many pristine brooks, streams and rivers that have long been a firm favorite for small trout fishing particularly in the Barton Brook, Falls and Green Rivers. An interesting sight is the Poets Seat Tower Park where a historic stone edifice was erected in 1912 at the sight where Greenfield's most famous poet, Frederick Goddard Tuckerman was inspired. The Park, a broad ancient 500-foot high volcanic ridge, has several miles of scenic nature trails for winter cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing and the same trails make for superb hiking and biking, with many excellent vistas along the way complimented by unique flora and fauna. Deer, coyote, bobcat and fox are the regular residents but the black bear and moose have been glimpsed. For a real energy and buzz that seems to rub off onto everyone that visits, why not climb the Tower for some of the most stunning views of the majestic towering peaks in the distance! Bird watchers can spot bald eagles nesting in the nearby Cove and other visitors can see where dinosaur tracks have recently been discovered. Other nearby localities providing good sightseeing bases are: Colrain, Buckland and Conway.
