Nearby is Springfield, where basketball was created and the first Indian motorcycle was produced, is also home to the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the newly opened Dr. Seuss National Memorial and Sculpture Gardens, there you can see the life size statues of native Dr. Szeuss and his favorite characters including Horton, the Grinch and the Lorax. There are 4 museums in total, housing fierce Samurai armour and weaponry, the acclaimed collection of oriental bronze, jade and porcelain, don’t miss the Dinosaur Hall with its towering tyrannosaurus rex and the interesting Astronomy Hall complete with a planetarium. Other pretty localities in the area are: West Springfield, Southampton and Easthampton.
