At the western end of the spectacular Kancamagus Highway is the breathtaking Franconia Notch and its powerful waterfalls and several locations nearby provide rock-climbing routes for all abilities.

Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch each have many routes with an 8-mile paved bike path running through much of the Notch. Horse-drawn hayrides and snowy sleigh rides turn back the clock, so too does Franconia Notch State Park that was formed by glacial movements 400 million years ago! Flume Gorge situated in Franconia Notch Parkway is a natural gorge that extends 800 ft. with walls to 90 ft high. Here you'll find a spectacular nature trail, a covered bridge, gift shop and other interesting features. Also close by is, Echo Lake, Profile Lake, Cannon Mountain Ski area and the Cannon Aerial Tramway. The Whales Tale Waterpark is a 17-acre water park located in the White Mountains region. The park features 11 waterslides, a huge wave-pool, nearly half a mile of lazy river ride with a fantastic children's activity area and more. Not far away, you'll find The Former Site of the famous "Old Man of the Mountains", New Hampshire's signature attraction the "Great Stone Face", a natural rock formation formed by the Ice Age.
