"Thank you for considering our Inn for your getaway! Our bed-and-breakfast guests know one of our best-kept secrets. Our personalized, caring service and sumptuous complete gourmet breakfasts combined with our proximity to the excitement of downtown Indy can create quite an experience. We are confident that you will agree...

The charm of our three-story Italianate Inn, and its country estate like setting, provides a quiet respite from the daily grind while being minutes away from world class restaurants and entertainment sites. We believe our fine European-style food and peaceful (non-commercial) atmosphere are distinguishing features of the Inn. Our guests have told us that the best part of the Inn is our genuine hospitality. We simply enjoy providing our guests a memorable escape from the unique stress of the 21st Century, or put another way, we just love to pamper our guests! Just let us know how we can make your visit a special one.

The DeWolf-Allerdice House started revitalizing guests in September of 1999, after Cy and Sandy (your hosts) completed the first stage of the restoration of the property. The workday business traveler and the getaway weekender alike depart with refreshed spirits. Reward yourself with our Inn ""therapy""!

Many of our visitors ask us about the history behind our beautiful house, the grounds and the surrounding neighborhood. We are always happy to share the story because it is part of what makes the DeWolf-Allerdice House so special. Caroline DeWolf was the original owner who designed and built the house from 1871-1873. (We know little else of her.) Joseph Allerdice, a Scottish immigrant, purchased the house in 1891 and whose family resided until 1923. Joseph and a partner established the Indianapolis Abbatoir Co. with 25 men dealing in hides, wool, pelts, fur, and tallow. He was elected president and general manager of the firm and held that position until 1917 when illness forced an early retirement. By that time the business was one of the largest of its kind in the country and employed over 600 men.

In addition to our Victorian heritage and decor, our Inn is noted for:
