Clear Spring
The pretty town of Clear Spring is a interesting base from which to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside of rich farmland lovingly cultivated by many farmsteads dating from the mid-19th and early 20th century’s Amish era of enchantment. The gentle and peace lovinh Amish plowed fields, rolling pastureland and built modest homes that created a particularly scenic series of views that are visible from roads. Visitors can drive through their small hamlets and marvel at the remarkable architecture of barn designs that reflect the vernacular building traditions popular of the “old country.” Part of the Allegheny Mountain chain is mother nature’s paradise of Green Ridge State Forest, it covers 40,000-acres of mountainous terrain and is known for its marvellous network of unpaved roads and scenic overlooks. An autumn drive or hike through the park allows you to take in nature’s most spectacular show of colors. Here you’ll see the strange and unusual flowering plants of the prickly pear cactus. Travel south and you’ll find other interesting places and in between the towns and hamlets of Middletown, Keedysville and Knoxville.

Cumberland
Cumberland is a laid-back pretty little mall town nestled in the Allegheny Mountains close to cities, but far enough away to enjoy a completely different and slower pace of life.
