The Federal House Inn is ideally located in the beautiful Berkshires of western Massachusetts at the base of Beartown Mountain State Forest. We are one mile from Stockbridge, the former home of Norman Rockwell, and minutes from Lenox, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare & Company, Berkshire Theatre Festival, hiking, skiing and biking.
Set deep on a broad lawn of beautifully landscaped grounds, the Federal House Inn is a lovingly restored, gracious 1824 historic home framed by ancient copper beech trees and stately pines. The common areas are warm and inviting with comfortable furniture, antiques and wood burning fireplaces. Each guestroom has its own unique ambiance. All are bright and sunny with private baths and individual air conditioning in the warm weather. We serve a gourmet breakfast daily in our elegant dining room.
Nestled across from the winding Housatonic River at the base of Beartown State Forest, South Lee is a quaint little village listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We are one mile from picturesque Main Street Stockbridge and minutes from all area outdoor and cultural attractions including hiking, biking, skiing, antiquing, historic sites and museums.
Jim Finnerty, Carole Murko and their team – Mary Beth Berube, Innkeeper; Donna Kresiak, our amazing housekeeper; and all the other service providers - all strive to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
Our guest rooms are light and airy with large windows and lovely views of our lawns and landscaped grounds. All feature private bathrooms with large, soft bath towels, herbal glycerin soap, shampoo and hair dryers.
