"In 1907, rancher Charles Krug and his family moved into their new home. Natural light flooded the huge windows and made rainbows through the leaded glass. Quarter-sawn oak gleamed with honey colors. Carvings on the stairway and fireplaces were smooth to the touch. Massive doors hung in the high-ceilinged rooms.

It's still pretty much the way it was. Visitors share a reading hall, plump-cushioned Victorian conversation nook, parlor, sitting rooms, and formal dining room. Five comfortably decorated guest rooms have private baths, air conditioning, and queen-size beds.

The Rancher Hall downstairs is furnished with antique hickory armchairs and twig tables. At the end of the hall, an antique bank vault door protects the contents of Charles Krug’s old wine cellar. The River Room includes comfortable ranch-style furniture, a hand-made parquet poker table, and a collection of 78 RPM records from the early 1900s to the 1940s.
The third floor includes four rooms for Lee family and friends, furnished with Krug family furniture, iron beds, and books galore. Don't leave without a tour of the interesting spaces upstairs, with their interesting crannies, dormers, and secret passage. "

"From a comfortable base camp at Charley Montana Bed & Breakfast, enjoy exploring the scenic badlands of eastern Montana. Hike, bike, golf, ride horseback, canoe, or take memorable drives to fascinating places. Find a slower pace in a peaceful place. For detailed descriptions of several interesting day trips, e-mail the innkeepers. One of our favorites is Shorty & Bear's Guided Horseback Rides.

Guests enjoy the historic Bell Street Bridge over the Yellowstone River – just a half block from Charley Montana. It’s a stroll in the treetops, where wildlife abounds. The rugged beauty and serenity of the view from the bridge enrich any Montana visit. Moss agates stud the riverbanks.
Explore Makoshika Park a mile and a half from Charley Montana. It’s Montana’s largest state park – untouched and rugged. Hike or bike among cap rocks and sagebrush. The park abounds in fossils and opportunities to learn from nature. "
