The First Lady's Room #11
This room is decorated in a Victorian style. Matching curtains, pillows and wall paper with a full-sized bed make this room very comfortable. It is part of the adobe house and its walls are about two feet thick.

The Hunters' Room #12
Knotty pine walls with a quilt hanging complement to the quilts on the two full-sized beds. Simple in its decor, still powerful in its charm.

The Englishman's Room #13
Another room with one queen sized bed and one double bed. The charm of the knotty pine walls adds to the feeling of the room comfortably furnished with a rocking chair.

Their Majesty's Room #14
A king sized bed, rocking chair and refrigerator make this knotty pine paneled room fit for royalty.

The Darlings' Room #15
With its relaxing charm with two full-sized beds, a microwave, and a refrigerator, it is truly a darling room. You will love to stay in it.

The Mayor's Suite Plus #16
The mayor's suite consists of two rooms. One has a queen sized-bed, and the second compliments it with a sofa, kitchen table, refrigerator and microwave. You will feel at home in its Southwestern décor.

"Since we bought """"The Western"""" in 1998, we have made many changes to its inner and outer environments. We are constantly aware of the fact that a beautiful environment is central to healthy living for body, mind and spirit. Our newest addition is a gazebo and a hot tub.

We are looking forward to meeting you; please do not hesitate to contact us for reservations or information.

Our five rooms with one suite are not only attractively and uniquely furnished in southwestern style to compliment the knotty pine and adobe walls, but have phones, cable TV and in-room coffee and tea. Several have refrigerators and microwaves, wooden rocking chairs, wall quilts and Mexican tin mirrors.

We offer rooms with full sized beds, queen sized beds and king sized beds. All our rooms are non-smoking, and four rooms allow pets.

Hot tub use is available for free by appointment.
The Western consists of an old adobe house, built sometime after 1915, and a wing of quaint knotty pine rooms added in 1956.

In the late 1920's the original adobe house was bought by nurse Marie Butterfield, known as """"Butter"""" or """"Grandma Butter,"""" who turned her home into the Butterfield Hospital, a """"laying in"""" hospital for ranchers' wives in the surrounding area. Women would come from as far away as Reserve, NM, to the west to give birth in Magdalena for a delivery fee of twenty-five dollars. They would frequently do some of the cooking and cleaning in exchange for room and board while waiting to return to the ranch with their newborns. Otherwise, Grandma Butter ran the place with no help, doing all the cooking, cleaning and laundry herself, boiling sheets on the old wood stove. She worked all three shifts and was never really seen sleeping -- she took cat naps in her old rocker.

In the early days, Butter had a large room added on to the house for an aunt who had TB and came out west for """"the cure."""" When the aunt passed away, Grandma Butter decided to bring a doctor in, and the new room became the doctor's office. The back porch was enclosed and became the doctor's quarters. If you happen to visit Magdalena, you can still find Grandma Butter's grave at the old cemetery, north of town.

In the late 1990's, this location was the home of Magdalena's Mayor and First Lady, James & Linda Burson, who began its restoration.

(All rooms are non-smoking)"
