"The Scheidell Room: is named for Valentine Scheidell and his family, who (in 1895) had contracted with The Kohler family to build this beautiful and historic home. This room has two windows looking to the east and one looking north. The view from this room is of maple and fir trees, through the branches of which can be seen Lions Field and the occassional soccer or baseball match. Antique drawers, a walk-in closet, and a ceiling fan are also features of this room. The carpet is a plush mauve and the bed is a Queen-size, Queen Anne with dual comfort controls. The bathroom has a porcelin, clam shell pedestal sink and a shower.
The Fred Waring Room: displays pictures and journals depicting people, places and events from the Fred Waring era of Irene and Paul's travels. The room is a refreshing, and bold combination of colors. A plush spring-green carpet contrasts the mauve walls with tapestry weave borders. The curtains are billows of matching fabric with lace and netting. The bed is a Queen Ann, Queen size. A seating area with antique wicker sofa, reading lamp, table, antique drawers and vanity, ceiling fan, and large closet area raise the comfort level of this room. The bathroom is a pedestal sink and shower.
The Griffin Room: dedicated to the musical history of the patriarch of the Griffin family, this room has been recently decorated with plush, martini colored wall to wall carpeting, rose colored walls with an intricate patterned border. The windows facing east and south provide views of the seasoned gardens and refreshing, cross ventilation. The bed is a king size with a draped, half-canopy and a ceiling fan provides just the right atmosphere. A seating area, with a restored antique chaise lounge, an antique table, reading lamp and an immitation lighted fireplace contribute to the comfort of this room. Memorbilia from Father Griffins musical career also adorn walls and dresser tops. Birdseye maple drawers and a large closet allow for plenty of storage while a large, two-seater shower and a pedestal sink complete the setting. The price for this room is
The Lancastrian Room: is a mini-suite, having its own corridor linking the w.c. and the original bathroom which contains a rose stenciled, claw leg tub with shower, a victorian marble sink with silver fittings, original hand worked half panels of douglas fir, and a beautifully restored antique wash stand. The bedroom has views of the well established gardens to the south, and to the west is our very own creek, providing a gentle suite to send you off to sleep. The bed is a Queen size, and is an exquisite example of Victorian craftsmanship in hand carved, burled walnut. The antique oak drawers have been restored to their original beauty, and the carpet is of a rich burgundy color while the walls are a bold, sea green. A lighted ceiling fan with night light and picture rails displaying scenes of Victorian Lancashire, in England complete the setting of this, our most desired room.

"Approaching The Griffin House Bed and Breakfast, the appearance is of an impressive country home set alongside a meandering stream, with large pine and shade trees adorning its entrance. An 1890's Carriage House, and the original 1840's Settlement home compliment the two acre estate. As inviting as it is, the understated exterior of this modest mansion cannot prepare the visitor for the exquisitely crafted interior that awaits them. Finely carved American Chestnut, from a breed of tree that no longer exists on this continent, fills every niche in the home, from the ornate main staircase, to the elegant beaded wood archways and even the intricately honed quarter round at the baseboard. Floors of herring bone oak, fireplaces of molded brick, windows of stained glass and original gas light fixtures make the house a virtual museum for guests.
While one of the four guest rooms at The Griffin House is devoted to the historic Scheidell family that built and lived in the house for three generations, the others tell a tale of the illustrious music careers that touched the lives and indeed were lived by Paul and Irene Griffin before their bed and breakfast venture.
Dinner reservations for groups of eight or more provide a wonderful opportunity to experience this exquisite and historical residence. Musical entertainment is often featured.
