"THE WHITE ROOM

Spring starts softly in the mountains, with violet-throated crocus emerging from the snow, as you stretch in the serenity of the Inn's White Room. Pristine white linens adorn the large antique bed and create the focal point of this cozy nest. Sleep in this peaceful world of white. You add the color with your dreams...

THE KALEIDOSCOPE ROOM

Living with colors invites a rainbow indoors. This room is full of the carefree colors of a summer garden, and includes an eclectic mix of antique and modern treasures. In this room you will find harmony with a touch of fun...

THE PERIWINKLE ROOM

Named for the delicate evergreen plant with the heavenly blue flowers, this room features one of the Inn's favorite pasttimes, combining the juxtaposition of country and elegance. Light and breezy, layered with nostalgia, this room blends memories of the tender past with current comforts and charm.

THE ALLEGHANY ROOM

Alleghany County is known as the ""unspoiled province"" because it is still as wild and beautiful as it was when the first settlers discovered it. You will discover a woodsy retreat and hideaway in this naturally lovely room. From the hot and comforting whirlpool bath and the romantic fireplace to the inviting log cabin quilt on the bed, you will find yourself, unlike the land, very spoiled indeed...

THE BURGUNDY CABIN The Burgundy Cabin sits quietly on the side of the mountain overlooking our green and rolling fields. Inside, you will feel the peace of the woods as you are surrounded by forest greens, deep reds, creams, and sage. From the duck decoys keeping watch at the windows to the warmth of the fireplace, all will speak to you of mountain tranquility...

THE SEA MIST CABIN Think you are faraway from the sea when you are at this Inn in the mountains? The sea, with its peace, its azures and emeralds is always with you in this tranquil room. With the seascapes on the inside, and the magnificent mountains dancing outside your cathedral windows, you will be resting in the best of both worlds...

THE CELTIC CABIN
This is the room where the old country has come to stay with the new. Memories of Ireland, its music, its art, its magic are all around you here. Look out your windows at the blue hills, steam in the jacuzzi and read Irish poetry, remember and romance by the fireside on rainy nights. ""Cead mil failte!"" a hundred thousand welcomes to your own little Celtic cabin... "

Quiet location
"Would you like to go back in time to the informal and warm setting of mountain hospitality, to the furnishings of your great grandparents, to stunning scenery and a relaxed philosophy? Would you like a cabin of your own for a while? Does the mystery of nature still excite you? Are you craving a little extra nurture, simple living, and a place in which to regather the scattered pieces of your mind and spirit?
Don't be surpised if you see communities of deer, clutches of wild turkeys, red-tailed hawks, and a bear with its cub rummaging for berries in the dark woods. Daniel Boone loved this area, and Gerard Manley Hopkins would have relished it, and so would have the likes of Thoreau, Audubon, Teddy Roosevelt, and Winnie the Pooh.
You want something unusual and out of the way. You and your family need to spend some time off. We understand. At the Inn of the Red Thread your needs are uppermost. We are small, quiet, quaint, and comfortable. You won't get lost in a crowd of strangers here. You will enjoy the comfort and convenience of your own home away from home. Our inn is designed to provide a unique environment of warmth for the soul and renewal for the spirit. Come rest with us for a spell.
Mornings at the Mountain Hearth Lodge begin with a gourmet breakfast. If a full country breakfast is your heart's desire, we're ready. You can almost smell the coffee from here, along with a variety of home-baked muffins, cereals, juices and fresh cut seasonal fruit. Or if you prefer something delicate and light, just let us know."
