Today guests can still enjoy the rich woodwork, original gasoliers and period furnishings of an era gone by.

Read, or just relax by the fireplace in the comfortable and well appointed parlor. Play a friendly game of cards or Scrabble, or watch TV or a videotape in the upstairs sitting room.

Oak Hill Manor has throughout it's history been a place of gardens. Today, this tradition continues on the wooded hillside acre of land upon which the home is so stately situated. Newly planted at the bottom of the hillside is the formal English Country garden nestled alongside the quaint gazebo. Relax in the gazebo with your favorite book, or just sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquility. Or perhaps you would rather walk the hedged path up to the secluded seating located atop the hill, where you can sit back and watch the goings on of Albany situated below.

Maybe you'd rather enjoy the beautiful terraced gardens which adjoin the spacious porch spanning the length of the house. Generously furnished with comfortable wicker pieces, and boasting an old fashioned porch swing, the porch provides a quiet respite from the days activities. Relax with a glass of fresh summer lemonade and return to the yesteryear which this stately home recalls.

There are four guest rooms at Oak Hill Manor to enchant you. Each room is unique; and each is spacious, bright and airy. One of the key features of American Foursquare architecture is that all of the "living" rooms in the house are at a corner. Each of the guest rooms, The ALBANY Room, The HEARTH Room, The LEWIS Room and The OAK HILL Room enjoys light and ventilation from two sides. Each is individually air conditioned, and each has its own private bath. Antique reproduction radios with integral tape players are present in each room, and a selection of soft music is available for your enjoyment.

A sumptuous breakfast served with fine foods in gracious surroundings awaits you each morning at Oak Hill Manor.
Menus are specially prepared to provide a blend of fresh fruits, an egg course, a pancake/waffle/french toast type course and a separate meat dish at every meal. Freshly brewed coffee and a variety of juices are, of course, also served. Every meal is closed with a taste of local cheeses (for which Green County, Wisconsin is famous), and finally a bit of homemade nut bread for that last little bit of appetite which possibly remains.

Breakfast is served daily at 8:30 A.M. But if you are an early riser, you are invited to step out at 8:00 A.M. to the expansive side porch where coffee and tea, or your favorite morning beverage is available. Weather not allowing, morning coffee and tea are served in the parlor.

At 8:30 A.M. you will enter the dining room where soft music is playing, and where candles on the table and a fire in the fireplace set just the right romantic mood. The table is set with fine linen, and goblets of lemoned ice water await you. Sit back and be prepared for the type of meal service enjoyed at o

Gardens/arboretum
There are Many Attractions to Keep You Busy During Your Stay at Oak Hill Manor
The Sugar River is a dominant characteristic of the Village of Albany, and as such provides great recreation opportunities for guests at Oak Hill Manor.
CANOEING
A local provisioner, only a couple of minutes away, offers canoe rentals; and will provide you with a canoe, life jackets and paddles, and will drive you up river (1 1/2 Hours, 3 Hours, or 6 Hours). You can paddle back to their location at your leisure. All of this is provided at an extremely reasonable fee. And the Sugar River, where you will be paddling, is located along over 1000 acres of nature preserve; so you are assured of seeing abundant wildlife on your journey. No concerns about white water either; the Sugar River is gentle and easy to navigate. If you prefer getting into the water, tubing is also available for the more adventuresome.

FISHING
The Sugar River is one of the untapped wonders of the area; and Albany is perfectly placed, with a beautiful dam, to harvest the teeming aquatic life in this beautiful river. Just below the dam you will often see fishermen pulling out large and abundant bass and walleye. Every evening in summer, fishermen (and women and children) can be seen on the beautiful bridge on Albany's main street, fishing and enjoying the view of the lighted dam just up the river. Electric motors are the most suitable for this stretch of the river, and Albany has a free public boat landing if you would like to bring your own small craft.

THE SUGAR RIVER STATE TRAIL
The other dominant recreation characteristic of the area is the Sugar River State Trail. This trail, which runs twenty-three miles from the Town of Brodhead to the Village of New Glarus, is an old Milwaukee Road Railroad right-of-way, and as such has a gentle 1% grade maximum through its entire course. It has been extensively manicured with limestone screenings to provide a smooth surface for comfortable travel.

BICYCLING
The Village of Albany is located midway on the Sugar River State Trail, and Oak Hill Manor is only a 2 minute bicycle ride from the Albany trail station. Bring your bicycle with you while staying at Oak Hill Manor, and indoor storage is provided. If this is not convenient, Oak Hill Manor has a number of bicycles which are provided to guests on a complimentary basis.
Either way, you are sure to enjoy a day or two out on the trail; riding over the river on old railroad trestles between Albany and New Glarus, or passing through the replica of the historic Clarence covered bridge on the way to Brodhead. Because the Sugar River State Trail is a rustic trail, you will notice abundant wildlife on your journey, including deer, wild turkeys, sandhill cranes, river otters; and occasionally a meandering cow or pig, lost for the day.

HIKING
There are abundant opportunities to walk in and around Albany. The Sugar River State Trail, in addition to being a great place to cycle, is also a great place for a
