"We serve a full breakfast every morning, including homemade bakery and local delicacies. If you're looking for a quiet retreat, a weekend of romance, or a more active adventure, you will find it here.
Our accomodations offer six unique rooms with plenty of amenities, surrounded by three acres of lovely gardens and mature trees. Some of the highlights include the Joshua Wood Master Bedroom with its wood-burning fireplace and the Eagle's Nest Suite, which occupies the entire third floor. Albany House is the perfect place for retreats and reunions. Ask us about creating a customized crafting or quilt retreat.
Built by Joshua Wood circa 1908, this restored three story home features imported French tile in the foyer and natural oak woodwork throughout. Using the latest technology of that era, the house is constructed with sculptured concrete blocks manufactured on site and laid on a poured concrete foundation. A variety of forms were used to create fascinating patterns that add architectural interest. During construction the family lived in a small outbuilding that is still standing.
In 1987 the house was converted into the first bed and breakfast in Green County. The extensive renovation included adding five bathrooms, finishing the third floor, and completing the insulation of exterior walls. While remodeling the house, care was taken to maintain the integrity and charm of this turn-of-the-century house. The tile and hardwood floors, the natural woodwork, and the pocket doors were returned to their original condition.
Situated prominently on three acres, Albany House is surrounded by mature black walnut and maple trees. A wide variety of perennials and roses add to the beauty. A large barn at the rear of the property completes the rural feeling.
Our love of cooking, gardening, and entertaining encouraged us to look for a Bed and Breakfast of our own. While visiting Albany House for our anniversary, we fell in love with Green County and this wonderful old house. Our goal is to create that relaxed, ""away from it all"" feeling that is so rare today. Come enjoy this grand house with us, and experience the beauty of Green County, Wisconsin.
With six bedrooms (two of which make up the third floor suite) and a sitting room, Albany House is the perfect location for a family reunion, a group outing, or a retreat.
In addition to the in-house amenities, the large front porch provides a wonderful place to gather when the weather is pleasant. Three acres of grounds provide ample room for volleyball, croquet, horseshoes, and other outdoor activities.
