|Team Mid-America Xtreme was started in July of 1997. Mike Polzin is the founder and captain of the team. Keith Lamb and Tom Grow were added to the team after meeting Mike while volunteering at Mid America Xtreme Adventure Race 99. We met Brian Weber via the internet and while taking part in the race that eventually became Watertown Challenge. Brian has gone out of his way to promote the sport of adventure racing as much as anyone we have encountered in the sport, he is the race director of the Watertown Challenge. The purpose of the Watertown Challenge is to raise monies for Jefferson County Human Services Outreach Team. The Outreach Team works with at risk children.
We start 2001 by adding another new team member Laura Coleman, Laura had been training with the team and soon took part racing with the team in Fall of 2000. Laura graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison and was on the Triathalon Team and as completed the Wisconsin Ironman in 2002 and 2003.
